2011 Cut Flower CSA

Dear Friends:

The Holiday Season is finally here; and we are planning for the flower season of 2011. This upcoming year, Mon Ami Farms is offering a limited number of weekly flower bouquet subscriptions through our Cut-Flower CSA membership. Our bouquets will be filled with seasonal flowers that are grown locally using sustainable agriculture practices. Locally grown flowers will be the perfect weekly addition to your home or place of business. Weekly subscription fulfillment will begin as soon as the flowers bloom, around mid-March, and will continue until first frost near the end of October or beginning of November. The annual cost of a weekly subscription is $350, or a bi-weekly membership is available for $200. The bouquets will be available for pick-up at one of our conveniently designated locations. Bouquet delivery will be available for a one-time annual fee.

Currently, Mon Ami Farms is preparing for the early spring flower season. In order to purchase all of the necessary bulbs and supplies, we ask for payment in full or a 50% minimum deposit by January 1, 2010 and the balance due on or by June 1, 2011. Additionally, for those wanting to gift a membership please inquire via email so we can send a formal gift card to the recipient. So don’t delay in joining Mon Ami Farms’ 2011 Flower CSA, as our membership availability is limited. Thank you for your interest. FRESH PRODUCE DELIVERY FOR THURSDAY, MAY 20th

Mon Ami Farms will be delivering fresh, local produce tomorrow afternoon to a number of our friends and families in the Birmingham area. In response to the positive feedback we will currently be making deliveries weekly, with plans on expanding the delivery service as our yields increase with the arrival of summer crops.

Through the use of Mon Ami Farms' blog we will be able to take pre-harvest photos of our produce in order to allow our customers to choose what items they would like and allow us to fill orders while keeping all fruits and veggies as fresh as possible!

Everyone please come show their support for Monami Farms on June 17th at the June Green Third Thursday in Homewood, AL.  The event will be hosted by the Catalyst for Birmingham Members and will be celebrating the community gardeners of Birmingham. There will be food, music, and drinks so bring a friend and come gather some information regarding Monami Farms and the other local farmers in your area. Monami Farms will be serving a homemade pesto and a roasted eggplant dip,  make sure you grab a bite. As always, thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you at the event. 

V. Richards, Here We Come!!!

Ok everyone, it is time to take another trip to V. Richard's market in the next couple of days to buy an ounce or two of Monami Farms' fresh Genovese Basil. We have our own special packages in our own special spot just to the right of all the other fresh herbs in the produce section. We were fortunate enough to be awarded this exclusive retail space because our basil is considered the most beautiful and delicious by Doug, the produce manager. I just picked over two pounds at our Falkville farm this morning and will be delivering some of it to our neighborhood market friends in the morning. So stop by and tell them you came to patronize their store because they carry Monami Farms products.

As always I want to thank Rick, Lyn, Rickie, and Doug for their support of our business and many other local businesses. They have a wonderful place that I often frequent for a number of quality products.

We planted Black Krim, Pantano Romanesco, and Green Zebra tomato transplants, a couple of varieties of eggplant, and a large assortment of sweet and hot peppers. The herb garden was also finally finished since we were able to locate some nice transplants. Currently, on guard searching for the culprit that ate the leaves off a few pole beans and one of our eggplants.

A Seed Is Sown

Monami Farms is in the process of harvesting their first crop so that we can provide fresh, organic, and local produce to our community. We are excited to join the farming community and are enthusiastic about providing fresh fruits and vegetables to the farmer's market this summer.
